陳泗治(1911-1992),鋼琴家、作曲家、音樂教育家、牧師。出生於臺北廳士林區(今臺北市士林區)。1923年就讀淡水中學校,受教於吳威廉牧師娘,開啟他音樂的一生。1930年入臺北神學校(今臺灣神學院),決定獻身基督。1934年赴東京神學大學就讀時,隨上野音樂學校木岡英三郎修習作曲。回臺後,曾擔任臺北士林長老教會傳道師,與士林菁英共組士林協志會。陳泗治除了是位傑出的鋼琴家外,譜寫的清唱劇《上帝的羔羊》(1936)為臺灣最早的合唱曲,鋼琴組曲《台灣素描》(1939)為臺灣最早的鋼琴組曲,紛紛創下紀錄,之後亦有合唱曲、鋼琴曲及室內樂,共約近20首,且於1964年完成編輯長老教會《聖詩》之重任。1955年,他出任淡江中學校長,以音樂專業與牧師的身分全心奉獻教育,直至1981年退休,作育英才無數。

CHEN, Su-Ti (1911-1992) was a pianist, composer, music educator and pastor. He was born in Taipei, Taiwan and died in California. He attended Tamsui Middle School and the Graduate School of Theology in Taiwan, and studied piano with Ms. Margaret Gauld (the wife of Pastor William Gauld) and Isabel Taylor. In 1934, he attended what was then Tokyo Theological University and studied composition with Professor Masahiro Shigeo at Ueno Music School. After returning to Taiwan, he co-founded, together with Isabel Taylor, the music department at the Chun-deh Girls’ High School (now Tamkang High School), and served as the headmaster from 1955 until his retirement. In 1957, he went to the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Canada for a year and studied composition. Chen’s main compositions include the cantata, The Lamb of God (1936), the piano suite, Taiwan Sketches (1939) and the chorus, Praise God for His Great Blessing (1976).
