Lu Shiue-Ying (born in 1929) is a pianist and music educator. She was born into an affluent family of doctors in Keelung. Under the influence of her mother, dentist Tseng Yu-Lan, and the rich environment of sacred music in her church, Lu developed great interest in music at a young age and exhibited remarkable talent. She studied the piano with the great masters Chen Su-Ti and Robert Scholz, and was taken to the Taipei Broadcasting Bureau to record by Chen. She thus met Lu Quan-Sheng and became the piano accompanist for the Rong-Xing Choir, witnessing the choir's journey to success. In 1968 she entered the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna for further study, receiving a diploma in piano performance art in 1970. She was one of the few female pianists to earn this diploma at the time. Having lived in Europe for nearly 10 years, she fully experienced the exquisite beauty of classical music. After returning to Taiwan in 1978, she taught full-time at the Music Division of the National Taiwan Academy of Arts (now the Department of Music at National Taiwan University of Arts) until her retirement in 1999. She also taught part-time at Taiwan Seminary and Tamkang Senior High School. In over 50 years of education, she has nurtured numerous excellent musicians and contributed greatly to music education in Taiwan.
