林進祐(1948生),作曲家。出生於彰化縣埤頭鄉。家中擁有八音及南管團,在此熏陶下,從小便喜好傳統音樂。1964年考上臺灣省立臺中師範專科學校(今國立臺中教育大學),就讀音樂組,爾後與許常惠學習作曲。1988年取得國立臺灣師範大學碩士學位,並赴日本深造。1990年起任教於臺中師院音樂教育學系,教授音樂理論與作曲。此外,其為國內學生撰寫有關基礎訓練的專書,均成為音樂班使用的重要教材。曾擔任亞洲作曲家聯盟中華民國總會理事、璇音雅集總幹事等等。1999年並榮獲第一屆臺灣省藝術類音樂創作獎赴俄羅斯進修考察。其聲樂曲〈菩薩蠻〉、鋼琴曲《山旅》獲得文建會獨唱(奏)曲創作獎,電影配樂《末日世界》亦獲得臺北電影節最佳動畫片。2014年專任退休,仍創作不停歇。
LIN Chin-Yow, born in 1948 in Pitou, Zhanghua in a family that owns Southern-Fukien Bayin and Nanguan ensembles, has learned to love traditional music since young. In 1988, he received his Master’s degree in music education and went onwards to study music theory and composition in Japan. Lin received awards from the Council for Cultural Affairs for his musical creations Pu Sa Man and Mountain Trip (piano suite). He is also the composer of The End of the World, best animation of the Taipei Film Festival. LIN has spared no efforts in music education with his publication of a series of basic training materials for Taiwan students in score reading, music dictation, and music theory, all of which have become important teaching materials for music classes in Taiwan.
