游昌發（1942生），作曲家。出生於廣東省潮陽縣。幼年聽京戲，是其最早的音樂體驗。1949年舉家遷臺，定居高雄。初中音樂老師的提攜、鼓勵，開啟音樂人生。先後畢業於臺灣省立臺北師範學校（今國立臺北教育大學）音樂科，主修聲樂（1957）、國立臺灣藝術專科學校（今國立臺灣藝術大學）音樂科，聲樂轉作曲（1966），1969、1979年兩度留學奧地利學習作曲。1986年起專任於國立藝術學院（今國立臺北藝術大學）。游昌發將中國音樂的傳承，透過西方的作曲手法，交融、創作出具個人風格的音樂，數量豐碩、體裁多樣。代表作包括獨幕劇《王婆賣雞》、歌劇《桃花扇》、大型聲樂交響曲《酒歌》等，展現其精粹藝術涵養。近年創作洛夫、瘂弦等之「詩人之歌」系列作品，開啟中文藝術歌曲的新扉頁。

YU Chang-Fa, born in 1942 in Chaoyang, Guangdong, studied composition at the National Vienna Conservatory of Music in 1969 and 1979. Afterwards, he has taught at department of music and department of Chinese music at the National Taiwan College of Arts and Catholic Fujen University and the National Taipei College of Arts. Such experiences have afforded him a proper understanding of traditional Chinese music across genres like Nanguan, Beiguan, Qin, Pipa, and classical poem chanting. YU’s musical works are rooted in a sophisticated cultural heritage, which is often manifested in the techniques, arrangements, and tones as well as his various applications of both Chinese and Western concepts.
