廖瓊枝（1935生），歌仔戲演員。出生於基隆。兒時受住處附近歌仔戲班的耳濡目染，年少時進入金山樂社，正式踏上歌仔戲。18歲出班時，正好碰上歌仔戲內臺戲全盛期，培養出深厚的表演實力，再加之廣播與電視歌仔戲，造就她身段細膩優美，唱腔傳神感人，被譽為「臺灣第一苦旦」。她錄製了歌仔戲史上第一套唱腔錄音，製作第一套傳統歌仔戲藝術薪傳計畫身段教材，為建立歌仔戲教學體系的先驅。1991年，成立薪傳歌仔戲劇團，致力在校園與社會推動歌仔戲。1999年，成立財團法人廖瓊枝歌仔戲文教基金會，為臺灣第一個以保存、記錄、薪傳、推廣歌仔戲為宗旨的基金會。2009年，獲指定為國家重要傳統藝術歌仔戲類文化資產保存者。1998年獲第二屆國家文藝獎，2018年獲第五屆藝術教育貢獻獎之終身成就獎。

LIAO Chiung-Chih (LIAO Qiong-Zhi) is a famous Taiwanese gezaixi opera performer. She has a slender, elegant posture, and has been given the epithet "Taiwan's master kudan (female role character)." She was born in Keelung, Taiwan on Nov. 13, 1935. Liao recorded the first gezaixi recording in history and wrote the first comprehensive set of teaching materials for Taiwanese gezaixi, particularly with regard to posture on stage. Liao is a pioneer in the field of gezaixi pedagogy, and has devoted her life to disseminating the art form on campuses and in society. Aside from performing, she also started writing and arranging scripts in 1995. She is one of the Important Traditional Art Preserver in Taiwan.
