張大勝(1934-2015),指揮家、音樂教育者。出生於南投縣。從小受到叔輩兄長的啟迪,考取臺灣省立臺中師範學院(今國立臺中教育大學)音樂科。後相繼畢業於臺灣省立師範大學(今國立臺灣師範大學)音樂學系、西德國立弗萊堡音樂院、西德西柏林國立音樂暨表演藝術學院(現為柏林藝術大學)與西德埃森福克旺音樂院,榮獲西德國家藝術家最高文憑,1967年獲義大利第四屆國際青年指揮比賽獎。1968年返國後,展開臺灣音樂教育與樂團籌備、經營之工作,並於1969年應聘為中國文化學院(今中國文化大學)音樂系主任,並創立華岡交響樂團,為臺灣指揮教育發展的推手。後又擔任師大音樂系所主任及藝術學院院長。1995年於出任國家音樂廳交響樂團音樂總監,率團赴歐洲各主要城市作首度演出和音樂交流活動,為國家樂團跨入國際樂壇建立里程碑。
CHANG Tah-Sheng was born on Oct. 7, 1934 in Nantou County. He is a renowned conductor, pianist, composer and music educator. Chang graduated from Freiburg Conservatory of Music (Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Freiburg im Breisgau), Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Künst Berlin(Currently Berlin University of the Arts) and Folkwang University of the Arts (Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Ruhr. Folkwang Hochschule Essen), eventually earning the highest academic degree for the arts in Germany. In 1967, he won the 4th International Youth Conductor’s Composition in Italy. Chang was a professor for many years at National Taiwan Normal University’s music department and eventually served as its chair as well as head of the graduate institute of music. Apart from this, Chang also became president of National Taiwan University of Arts and chair of the music department at Chinese Culture University. He works hard at organizing and running various music ensembles in Taiwan and is a monumental figure in developing music education and conducting in Taiwan. He has been very active internationally, making channels and platforms for musicians in Taiwan and those from all over the world.
