錢南章（1948），作曲家。出生於江蘇省常熟縣。1949年隨家人來臺。畢業於中國文化學院（今中國文化大學），主修鋼琴；後留學德國慕尼黑音樂學院，主修理論作曲。1978年返國後，任教於中國文化學院，1989年起專任於國立藝術學院（今國立臺北藝術大學）音樂學系，至2013年退休。錢南章創作屢獲肯定，包括1997年第八屆金曲獎最佳作曲獎，1998年以臺灣原住民組曲《馬蘭姑娘》，獲得第九屆金曲獎最佳作曲獎，2002年以《佛教涅槃曲》得到第十三屆金曲獎最佳作曲人獎，2005年《號聲響起》獲得第十六屆金曲獎最佳作曲人獎；同年，榮獲第九屆音樂類國家文藝獎。2016年，以弦樂四重奏《小河淌水》再獲第二十七屆金曲獎最佳作曲人獎，2021年獲第四十二屆吳三連獎音樂類得主。除上述作品外，合唱組曲《我在飛翔》（1999）、交響曲《那魯灣》（2006）亦為其代表作。

CHIEN, Nan-Chang (b.1948) , composer. Born in Changshu County, Jiangsu Province. In 1949, he moved to Taiwan with his family. He graduated from the Chinese Culture Institute (now Chinese Culture University), majoring in piano; later, he studied abroad at the Munich Conservatory of Music in Germany, majoring in theoretical composition. After returning to the country in 1978, he taught at the Chinese Culture Institute. From 1989, he served as a full-time faculty member in the Department of Music at the National Institute of the Arts (now Taipei National University of the Arts) until his retirement in 2013. Chien Nan-chang's creations have been repeatedly recognized, including the Best Composition Award at the 8th Golden Melody Awards in 1997; in 1998, with the Taiwanese indigenous suite "Ma-lan Girl," he won the Best Composition Award at the 9th Golden Melody Awards; in 2002, with "Buddhist Nirvana," he received the Best Composer Award at the 13th Golden Melody Awards; in 2005, "The Trumpet Sounds" won the Best Composer Award at the 16th Golden Melody Awards; in the same year, he was honored with the 9th National Cultural and Arts Award in Music. In 2016, with the string quartet "Flowing Stream," he again won the Best Composer Award at the 27th Golden Melody Awards; in 2021, he was the winner of the 42nd Wu San-lien Award in Music. In addition to the aforementioned works, the choral suite "I Am Flying" (1999) and the symphony "Naruwan" (2006) are also his representative works.
