陸森寶（1910-1988）卑南族名為Baliwakes，原住民音樂家。出生於臺東卑南社。自幼在音樂與體育方面，即有過人的天賦。曾就讀臺南師範學校，為原住民菁英，念書之餘苦練鋼琴，畢業之後任教於臺東地區的新港公學校（今三民國小）、寧埔公學校（今寧埔國小）、小湊國校（今成功鎮忠孝國小）、臺東農校（今國立臺東專科學校）。教職退休後，即致力於母文化的傳揚與延續。他的創作圍繞於卑南族群的生活，成為天主教教徒後，更創作許多教會聖歌，不但流傳於卑南族各部落，部分創作甚至常被灌製成唱片出版。他的代表歌曲〈美麗的稻穗〉、〈頌祭祖先〉與〈卑南山〉等，膾炙人口，有著潛移默化之影響，啟發諸多卑南族人的音樂靈魂，並以不同形式傳唱，有「卑南族音樂之父」尊稱。

LU Sen-Bao (Baliwakes) was born in Taitung in 1910. He attended Tainan Teachers College, practicing piano in his spare time. After graduating, he taught in Hsinkang and Taitung County. After retiring, he devoted his life to passing on the traditions of his culture. He has been given the epithet, “the Puyuma tribe’s musical soul.” His major compositions include “Praise for the Credit Union” and “Up to 60 Million Dollars” which were very popular among the Puyuma. His song “Beautiful Rice Ear” became a national hit by Puyuma folk singer Kimbo (Hu Defu). Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan choreographed dances to his “Exalt and Make Offerings to the Ancestors” and “Mount Puyuma.” He died in Taitung in 1988.
