陳慧珊(1971),音樂學家、音樂教育家。出生於臺北市,畢業於國立臺灣藝術專科學校音樂科,1993年赴英國皇家伯明罕音樂學院深造,先後攻讀鋼琴演奏文憑與碩士,後獲獎學金轉攻音樂學。博士候選人期間,曾於該校任教「音樂美學」,於威爾斯大學藍佩特分校客座講授「儒家樂教與音樂美學」,並擔任音樂評論工作。2002年以《通往新音樂之道:安東・魏本早期非調性音樂研究》獲哲學博士學位,研究涵蓋現代音樂、跨文化美學與音樂社會學等領域。返臺後,曾任教於國立中山大學、實踐大學、臺南應用科技大學等校音樂系所,並參與創辦臺灣音樂學論壇,推動音樂學研究與學術交流。2005年獲皇家伯明罕音樂學院頒授「榮譽院士」(HonFBC)。2006年返母校國立臺灣藝術大學任教,2019年創立臺灣表演藝術跨領域學會,2021年創立跨域表演藝術研究所,以音樂、舞蹈、戲劇、戲曲與民俗技藝為核心,培育跨域表演藝術人才,為臺灣跨界音樂發展的先驅,更為跨域表演藝術高等教育奠定重要基石。

Chen Hui-shan (b. 1971) is a musicologist and music educator. Born in Taipei, she graduated from the Music Department of the National Taiwan Academy of Arts. In 1993, she pursued further studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the United Kingdom, where she studied for a diploma and master's degree in piano performance before receiving a scholarship to transfer her focus to musicology. During her doctoral candidacy, she taught “Music Aesthetics” at the Conservatoire, gave guest lectures on “Confucian Music Education and Musical Aesthetics” at the University of Wales, Lampeter, and worked as a music critic. In 2002, she was awarded a PhD for her dissertation, A Path to the New Music: Studies in Anton Webern’s Early Atonal Music, which engaged with modern music, cross-cultural aesthetics, and the sociology of music. After returning to Taiwan, she taught in the music departments of National Sun Yat-sen University, Shih Chien University, and Tainan University of Technology. She also took part in founding the Taiwan Musicology Forum, contributing to the advancement of musicological research and academic exchange. In 2005, she was conferred the distinction of Honorary Fellow of Birmingham Conservatoire (HonFBC) by her alma mater. In 2006, she returned to teach at her alma mater, National Taiwan University of Arts. In 2019, she founded the Taiwan Interdisciplinary Performing Arts Society, and In 2021, she founded the Graduate Institute of Transdisciplinary Performing Arts, with music, dance, drama/theatre, traditiona opera/theatre, and folk/craft performing arts as its core disciplines. Dedicated to cultivating talents in transdisciplinary performing arts, the Institute not only pioneered the development of crossover music in Taiwan, but also laid an important foundation for higher education in transdisciplinary performing arts.
