簡名彥(1953-),小提琴家。14歲以第一位小提琴資賦優異兒童的身分赴美國求學,為臺灣第一位在國際上受到矚目的小提琴演奏家,1975年畢業於紐約茱莉亞音樂學院,次年獲該音樂院小提琴演奏碩士學位,其演奏風範在當時已倍受紐約地區樂界推崇,期間與其受邀合作過之當今國際級的演奏家亦不計其數。由於出生醫生世家,不能忘情醫學,1983年進入美國阿肯色大學醫學院,完成基礎醫學課程。1986年返國任教於國立藝術學院(今臺北藝術大學),1988年創立「名絃室內樂」於古典音樂推動卓有影響,曾以醫學觀點著述提琴技巧相關之論文《弦外之「因」》、《從尼古拉‧帕格尼尼二十四首〈綺想曲〉作品一,探討指法與左大拇指之運用》為國內絕無僅有。多年來除了經常於國內外演出之外,對於培育後進不遺餘力,臺灣許多名揚國際亦或各大交響樂團的小提琴演奏家們都曾受教於他而深受影響。
Master JIAN Ming-Yan (1953-), a violinist crowned with unprecedent talented child with outstanding violin skill, went to the United States to study as he was 14. He was the first violinist come from Taiwan that attracts international attention. He graduated from the Juilliard School of Music in New York in 1975 and gained the master degree of violin performance from the school the following year. His performance style was highly praised by the music circles in New York at that time. He was then invited to collaborate with countless international performers. As he was born in a family of doctors, he kept his passion for medical science as well. In 1983, he entered the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in the United States and completed fundamental courses of medical science. In 1986, he returned to Taiwan and taught at the National Academy of Arts (now Taipei National University of the Arts). In 1988, he founded the "Famous String Quartet," which was very influential in promoting classical music. He has ever released a study on violin skills from a medical perspective, "Cause of Strings-from the Masterpiece: Paganini’s 24 Caprices Op. 1, Exploring Fingering and Use of Left Thumb," which was unique in Taiwan at that time. Over the years, in addition to frequent performances at home and abroad, Master JIAN has endeavored to nurture young talents. Many internationally renowned violin performers in major symphony orchestras in Taiwan have been taught and influenced by him.
