蘇森墉(1919-2007),音樂教育家,知名合唱指揮,新竹中學音樂教師。出生於臺灣臺北,及長,隨父母回福建老家定居,抗戰勝利後返臺,任教於新竹中學。由於時代背景的關係,蘇森墉在音樂方面並沒有豐富的學院訓練,但憑著土法煉鋼的意志力、加上天賦異稟,卻有相當突出且亮眼的成就。尤其他曾經帶領新竹中學合唱團參加全省合唱比賽,連續九年獲得第一名,最終贏得空前絕後的「十冠王」美譽,更被視為臺灣合唱音樂史上的傳奇。蘇森墉也作曲、編曲,以合唱曲為主,他相當留意各聲部音色的配置,對樂曲藝術性的表現有獨特視角,音樂效果很好。也曾受邀指揮新竹當地、以及臺北很多學校及專業合唱團,並兼任教於臺灣藝術大學、中國文化大學等大專院校,在新竹以及北臺灣的影響廣被,有「新竹音樂的教父」稱號。
Su Sen Yong (1919-2007) is a music educator, a well-known chorus conductor, and a music teacher at Hsinchu High School. Born and grown up in Taipei, Taiwan, he returned to his hometown in Fujian with his parents to settle down there. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he returned to Taiwan and taught at Hsinchu High School. Due to the background of the times, Su Sen Yong did not have extensive academic training in music, but with hard practice and talent, he has achieved quite outstanding and dazzling achievements. In particular, he led the Hsinchu High School Chorus to participate in the provincial chorus competition, won first place for nine consecutive years, and finally won the unparalleled reputation of "Ten Crowns", which is regarded as a legend in the history of Taiwan's choral music. Su Sen Yong also composes and arranges music, mainly chorus music. He pays great attention to the configuration of the timbre of each part and has a unique perspective on the artistic expression of the music. He has also been invited to conduct local Hsinchu and Taipei schools and professional choruses and has also taught at the National Taiwan University of Arts, Chinese Culture University, and other colleges and universities. He widely influenced Hsinchu and northern Taiwan, and was known as the " Music Godfather of Hsinchu ".
