簡上仁(1947生),音樂學家、作曲家。出生於嘉義縣大林鎮。1977年譜寫〈正月調〉獲金韻獎後,以維護與發揚臺灣音樂文化為一生志業。1983年創立田園樂府樂團,以在地主義理念,積極推廣鄉土音樂。1990年獲臺灣師範大學音樂學碩士、2009年獲英國雪菲爾大學音樂系哲學博士。努力於筆耕與歌曲創作,成績斐然,專書包括《台灣福佬語語言聲調與歌曲曲調的關係及創作之研究》、《台灣福佬系民歌的淵源及發展研究》與《台灣民謠》等,對於福佬系歌曲有獨到之解析;歌樂作品包括成人與兒童之獨唱與合唱曲,共五百餘首,代表作為〈阿爸的飯包〉、〈心情〉、〈秋天的思念〉(自創詞曲)、〈一的炒米香〉。近四十餘年來,致力本土音樂之採集、整理、創作、教育、推展及演出工作,足跡遍及國內外。
CHIEN Shang-Jen is a musicologist and composer. He was born in 1947 in Township of Dalin, Chiayi County. After he won the Golden Rhythm Award with the song “Tune of January” in 1977, he began to view the preservation and promotion of traditional Taiwanese music culture as his true vocation. In 1983, he founded the band Tian Yuan YueFu to promote folk music as well as raising local cultural awareness. He obtained his master’s degree in music at National Taiwan Normal University in 1990, and PhD at the University of Sheffield in England in 2009. He was recognized for the outstanding achievements on the research and writing of Taiwanese folk songs. His publications include Research on Songwriting and Relationship Between Language Tones and Song Tunes in Hoklo Language in Taiwan, Research on the Origin and Development of Hok-lo Folk Songs in Taiwan and Taiwanese Folk Songs, etc. He also composed more than 500 pieces of vocal music, consisting of solos and choruses for adults and children such as “One for Making Puffed Rice”. He even wrote lyrics for some of these songs, like “Father’s Lunchbox”, “Feelings” and “Thoughts in Autumn”. He has dedicated himself for nearly 40 years at home and abroad, to the collection and organization of folk songs, the composition and performances of traditional Taiwanese melodies as well as the promotion and education of Taiwanese music.
