陳澄雄(1941生),指揮家。出生於宜蘭。幼年接觸手風琴、口風琴、吉他、中國笛等樂器與音樂結緣,初中時隨音樂教師吳恩清學習鋼琴及音樂理論。1957年初中畢業後,陳澄雄進入國立臺灣藝術專科學校(今國立臺灣藝術大學)就讀,隨蕭而化學習作曲。畢業後,留學奧地利學習作曲和指揮。1968年返臺,曾執教於藝專母校、中國文化學院、東海大學、實踐家政專科學校(今實踐大學)等,1984年出任臺北市立國樂團團長,1991年任臺灣省立交響樂團(今國立臺灣交響樂團)團長,並創立臺灣省青少年交響樂團,至2003年卸任。陳澄雄潛修音律,駕馭中西音樂,獨具藝術睿見與文化氣質,並曾多次應邀客席指揮多國交響樂團及國樂團演出,樹立文化新頁,對臺灣樂團之發展,於指揮專業方面有很大的貢獻。
CHEN Tscheng-Hsiung, born in Yilan in 1941, is a conductor. He received his Bachelor's degree from National Taiwan Academy of Arts (now known as National Taiwan University of the Arts) and conducted further studies in composition and conducting in Austria. In 1984 he began to serve as the director of Taipei Chinese Orchestra. He then became the director of Taiwan Provincial Symphony Orchestra (now known as National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra) from 1991 until his retirement in 2003. CHEN researches tuning systems, specializes in both Chinese and Western music, and is renowned for his artistic interpretation and cultural awareness. He is frequently invited to be the guest conductor for international symphony orchestras and Chinese orchestras.
