董榕森(1932-2012),國樂作曲家、指揮家。出生於江西省南昌市。1949年,因考取海軍軍士學校,離開南昌市,乘中鼎號抵達臺灣;之後畢業於海軍士校及政戰學校音樂系,師事戴逸青、蕭而化、張錦鴻、李永剛等教授,並從高子銘學習現代國樂。1966年開始從事樂教工作,並致力於國樂樂曲之創作,作品質量俱豐,代表作品為梆笛獨奏曲《陽明春曉》、合奏曲《普天同慶》、嗩吶協奏曲《偉大的建設》等。1968年成為國立臺灣藝術專科學校(今國立臺灣藝術大學)國樂科創科主任,1969年中華國樂團正式授旗成立,他成為首任指揮,並多次率領樂團代表臺灣躍上國際舞臺進行文化交流。曾獲諸多殊榮,包括1968年中山文藝創作獎之國樂作曲獎、1977年國家文藝獎、1993年「二十世紀華人音樂經典」作曲家等。
TUNG Yung-Shen was a composer of Chinese music. He was born in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, China in 1932 and died in Taipei in 2012. He left Nanchang City and headed for Taiwan in 1949 on the ship Zong Ding after being admitted to the Republic of China Naval Academy. He later received degrees from the Republic of China Naval Academy and from the music department of the Political Warfare Cadres Academy. He premiered his concerto for solo bandi (Chinese flute), titled Spring Dawn at Yang-Ming Mountain, in 1966 and also began teaching. Meanwhile, he dedicated himself to composing Chinese music and produced a great number of quality pieces. He founded both ZhongHua Chinese Orchestra and the Chinese music department at the National Academy of Arts (now known as National Taiwan University of Arts). He frequently led orchestras representing Taiwan on the international stage for the purpose of cultural exchange. He received the Sun Yat-Sen Literary Award, the National Award for Arts, and the Twentieth-Century Classical Chinese Music Award.
