黃燕忠(1955生),作曲家。出生於嘉義市。學生時期因擁有好歌喉而參加合唱團,西洋音樂的薰陶,使其決定以音樂成為終生的抱負。1972年開始隨陳茂萱及許常惠學習,1973年獲嘉義縣音樂創作比賽第一名,省賽第三名,同年進入中國文化學院(中國文化大學)音樂學系,有幸受教於包克多,使黃燕忠收穫豐富。又隨史惟亮、李振邦神父學習,受益良多。1977年畢業,發表《古典交響曲》。1979年赴國立維也納音樂學院就讀,在學期間曾獲奧地利教育部獎學金。1985年歸國後任教於台南家政專科學校(今台南應用科技大學),期間多次受託,創作《夢長江》等樂曲。2007年,作品CD《萬慧天 慧皇國》獲第十八屆金曲獎最佳宗教音樂專輯,2008年CD《音樂豐年祭》入圍第十九屆金曲獎最佳作曲人。
Composer HWANG Yann-Jong was born in Chiayi City in 1955. In 1972, HWANG began studying composition under the instruction of CHEN Mao-Shuen and HSU Tsang-Houei. In 1973, he won first place in the Chiayi County Composition Competition and third place in the National Composition Competition. In the same year he began to study in the music department of Chinese Culture University. He graduated in 1977 and premiered his Classical Symphony. He then began to study at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Wien) and received a fellowship sponsored by the Education Ministry of Austria. He returned to Taiwan in 1985 and has since taught at Tainan University of Technology. He has often received commissions to compose works such as Dreaming the Chang Jiang. A CD album of his compositions, The Eternal Divinity of Dao, was awarded Best Religious Music Album in 2007’s 18th Golden Melody Awards. For another album of his compositions, A Musical Harvest Festival released in 2008, he was nominated and a finalist for Best Composer in the 19th Golden Melody Awards.
