陳懋良（1937-1997），作曲家。出生於中國南京。1948年跟著父母來臺後，開始接觸音樂。1957年進入國立臺灣藝術專科學校（今國立臺灣藝術大學）音樂科就讀，由蕭而化啟蒙作曲，並與許常惠結識，參與製樂小集、向日葵樂會發表作品。1966年，陳懋良以管弦樂作品《夜夜》獲得第一屆中山文藝作曲獎及十大傑出青年獎。1969年負笈奧地利，進入國立維也納音樂院隨修習作曲。自1975年開始，在維也納布根蘭及下奧地利的史托特勞市立音樂學校教授鋼琴與作曲。入籍奧地利後，音樂創作趨向穩定與活絡，作品有如雨後春筍般地出現，作品第十二號《中國古詩室樂三首》，為其創作歷程的轉捩點；1990年至1996年間，他的創作更加蓬勃茂盛，共完成了11部作品（第十三號至第廿三號），為旅居海外重要的臺灣作曲家之一。

CHEN Mau-Liang was born in 1937 in Nanjing. He began to be interested in music at the age of eleven and studied piano and violin performance. At the age of twenty, he entered the music program of the National College of Arts (now known as National Taiwan University of Arts), studying composition with Prof. XIAO Er-Hua. During this time, he met HSU Tsang-Houei, joined the “Musicking Club,” and premiered compositional works. From 1969–72, at the age of thirty-two to thirty-five, he studied composition at the Vienna Conservatory (now known as the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna; Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien). He taught piano and composition in the Stockerau Music School in Burgenland and Niederösterreich. After his naturalization in Austria, he composed regularly and energetically. A great number of works were completed after 1990.
