王美珠(1951生),音樂學家。出生於臺北縣樹林鎮(今新北市樹林區)。從小就愛好音樂及藝術,國小起學習鋼琴,大學時期更接受蕭茲的指導。1973年畢業於國立政治大學哲學系,1976年前往德國漢堡大學音樂學研究所攻讀系統音樂學,1985年獲頒哲學博士。因表現優異,1984至1989年間任教於德國漢堡大學音樂學研究所。1989年返臺,先後專任於東吳大學音樂學系與國立臺北藝術大學音樂學研究所,至2017年退休。本於德國漢堡大學音樂學研究所系統音樂學跨領域學術研究精神,王美珠致力宣揚與拓展音樂跨域的學術研究與視野,例如音樂美學、音樂心理學、音樂社會學、音樂語義學、音樂與符號、音樂與視覺藝術、音樂與文學等,並積極演講及出版著作,開拓臺灣音樂學跨領域研究風潮。
WANG Mei-chu is a musicologist. Born in Shulin Township, Taipei County (now known as Shulin District, New Taipei City), WANG received her bachelor’s degree from National Chengchi University and, in 1985, her PhD degree in systematic musicology from the University of Hamburg (Universität Hamburg), Germany. Between 1984 and 1989 she taught at the University of Hamburg and, between 1992 and 1997, in the music department of Soochow University. Since 1997 she has served as full-time professor in the Graduate School Institute of Musicology at Taipei National University of the Arts until her retirement in 2017. After that, she has continued to serve as a adjunct professor at the school so far. Her specialties include aesthetics of music, psychology of music, sociology of music, music semiotics, music and symbols, music and visual arts, and music and literature.
