簡文彬(1967生),指揮家。出生於臺北市。四歲開始學習音樂,1976年以鋼琴主修考入臺北市福星國小音樂班。1979年起就讀南門國中音樂班,師從鋼琴家魏樂富,在其鋼琴教學中注意到鋼琴音色層次與管弦樂器的類比關係,開啟了體驗管弦樂團豐富音色變化的大門。畢業於國立藝專(今國立臺灣藝術大學)、奧地利國立維也納音樂院(今國立維也納音樂暨表演藝術大學)。1996年起擔任德國萊茵歌劇院駐院指揮,並於2011年8月起成為該劇院終身駐院指揮,為亞洲指揮在歐洲之第一人。1998至2004年擔任日本太平洋音樂節常任指揮。2001年至2007年任國家交響樂團音樂總監。2014年獲頒第十八屆國家文藝獎。自2014/15樂季起擔任國立臺灣交響樂團藝術顧問,2015年起擔任國家表演藝術中心衛武營營運推動小組召集人暨藝術總監。

CHIEN Wen-Pin, born in Taipei in 1967, is a conductor. He received his degree from the National College of Arts (now known as National Taiwan University of Arts) and the Vienna Conservatory (now known as the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna; Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien). Since 1996, CHIEN has served as conductor-in-residence for German Opera on the Rhine (Deutsche Oper am Rhein), and in August 2011 he received the tenured position of conductor-in-residence. He is the first Asian conductor to obtain a tenured position in Europe. From 1998–2004 CHIEN served as regular conductor of the Pacific Music Festival held in Japan, and from 2001–2007 as the music director of the National Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan. He was awarded the National Award for Arts. He also served as an art consultant for the 2014–2015 season of the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra and, since 2015, the head and artistic director of the preparatory office of the Wewuying Center for the Arts. CHIEN specializes in the interpretation of the Western art music repertory and is also dedicated to promoting the musical works of Taiwan and interdisciplinary artistic performance.
