鄧昌國(1923-1992),小提琴家。出生於福建林森。幼時隨父親居住於北平,11歲開始自學小提琴,18歲考進北平師範大學音樂系,主修小提琴。24歲進入比利時布魯塞爾皇家音樂學院,畢業後任職於盧森堡國家廣播電臺交響樂團,擔任第一小提琴手,之後轉至里約熱內盧費南德音樂院教授小提琴。1957年抵臺後,成立國立音樂研究所,首開國內研究中國音樂之風。1960年積極向教育部建議擬定「資賦優異學生出國進修辦法」,培植了優秀的年輕古典音樂人才,並促進國際音樂交流。鄧昌國勤於筆耕外,1968年出任臺北市立交響樂團首任團長,亦於1978年任中國文化大學藝術學院首任院長及研究所所長。此外,又積極於廣播與電視製作古典音樂節目,推廣藝術,對於提升音樂素養及文化水準貢獻良多。
DENG Chang-Guo was born in Linsen, Fujian in 1923. He started learning the violin at the age of 11 and was eventually accepted into Beijing Normal University’s Music Department as a violin performance major. He studied composition with Jiang Wen-Ye. He was accepted into the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in 1947, where he studied violin with Alfred Dubois. After graduating he taught violin at the Brazilian Music Conservatory. Deng eventually returned to Taiwan and urged the Ministry of Education to establish a program for sending talented students abroad to study. He taught and trained numerous musicians, giving impetus to music education in Taiwan and strengthening Taiwan’s international cultural exchanges. Deng passed away in the US in 1992.
