莊思遠（1946），法國號演奏家、音樂教育家。出生於臺南新營。自幼熱愛音樂，1964年以小號主修考上國立臺灣藝術專科學校（今國立臺灣藝術大學），後轉為法國號主修。1972年退伍後，考取臺灣電視公司交響樂團，同年，前往國立維也納音樂學院深造，1978年畢業即返國貢獻所長。曾任維也納史大巴克樂團法國號首席、維也納青年愛樂樂團巡迴、臺灣省立交響樂團（今國立臺灣交響樂團）法國號首席等職務。回臺先後任教於國立臺灣藝術專科學校（今國立臺灣藝術大學）、國立藝術學院（今國立臺北藝術大學）音樂學系等。莊思遠豐富的演奏生涯，堪稱全臺最活躍的法國號演奏家之一，除了積極的演出活動外，還出版有關法國號的著作《法國號吹奏技巧研究》、《法國號吹奏概念之導引》與《法國號演奏之探討與運用》等書，2012年退休後，繼續推廣及教學，將法國號發揚光大。

CHUANG Szu-Yuan (b. 1946) is a French horn player and music educator. Born in Xinying, Tainan, he has loved music since childhood. In 1964, he was admitted to the National Taiwan Academy of Arts (now National Taiwan University of the Arts) majoring in trumpet, and later switched his major to French horn. After being discharged from military service in 1972, he was admitted to the Taiwan Television Enterprise Symphony Orchestra. In the same year, he went to the National University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna for further studies. Upon graduation in 1978, he returned to his home country to contribute his expertise. He has served as the principal French horn of the Vienna Staubach Orchestra, toured with the Vienna Youth Philharmonic, and served as the principal French horn of the Taiwan Provincial Symphony Orchestra (now National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra). After returning to Taiwan, he taught successively at the National Taiwan Academy of Arts (now National Taiwan University of the Arts) and the Department of Music of the National Institute of the Arts (now Taipei National University of the Arts). Chuang's rich performing career makes him one of the most active French horn players in Taiwan. In addition to active performance activities, he has also published books related to the French horn, such as "A Study of French Horn Playing Techniques," "A Guide to the Concepts of French Horn Playing," and "Discussion and Application of French Horn Performance." After retiring in 2012, he continued to promote and teach, furthering the development of the French horn.
