吳榮順(1955生),民族音樂學者。出生於花蓮縣玉里鎮客家家庭。國立臺灣師範大學音樂學系求學期間,深受許常惠影響,1995年獲得巴黎第十大學民族音樂學博士。吳榮順在研究上,除了受到法國人類學研究方法的嚴格訓練和要求,更重視田野調查和音樂採集工作,親自記錄臺灣最珍貴的聲音。1991-2008年間為風潮唱片發表約30張民族音樂專輯,其中《美濃人美濃歌-客家山歌.八音現場紀實》於1998年獲得第九屆金曲獎非流行音樂類最佳唱片製作人獎;為國立傳統藝術中心主持「南部客家八音紀實系列出版計劃」等,共出版了48片CD,成果豐碩。在行政上,曾任國立臺北藝術大學音樂學系專任教授、傳統音樂學系系主任、音樂學院院長,2016-2018年擔任國立傳統藝術中心主任,對於民族音樂學領域付出,貢獻良多。
Wu Rung-Shun, born in 1955 in a traditional Hakka family in Yuli, Hualien, is a musicologist with a long-term devotion to studying indigenous music in Taiwan and significant experience in Han-Chinese music in Taiwan, Asian music and world music. He was deeply influenced by Dr. Hsu Tsang-houei while studying at the National Taiwan Normal University. Later on, Wu went for advanced studies in France and came back as the first Taiwanese to receive a PhD in Ethnomusicology from Paris X - Nanterre. He was full-time professor at Department of Music and Institute of Musicology, Taipei University of Arts, Director of Department of Traditional Music of that university, and Dean of Music Colledge of Taipei University of Arts. Currently, he is the director of National Center for Traditional Arts.
