呂泉生（1916-2008），作曲家、合唱指揮家。出生於臺中神岡。1933年，隨陳信貞習琴。1936年，考入東京東洋音樂學校鋼琴科，後改習聲樂。1943年回臺後，開始採集民歌、改編與創作歌曲；1943年，為新劇《閹雞》配樂，引發轟動。1957年，受辜偉甫之邀，擔任榮星兒童合唱團的團長兼指揮，至1991年退休為止，超過30年，不僅使得榮星與呂泉生畫上等號，亦對臺灣合唱的推廣有決定性的影響。在音樂教職、出版與創作上，亦貢獻卓越。1958年起，任教於私立實踐家專（今實踐大學），1969年更成為首屆音樂科主任；不僅編輯《一〇一世界名歌集》（1952）及《新選歌謠》月刊共九十九期（1952-1960），更譜寫眾多歌曲，例如《杯底不可飼金魚》、《搖嬰仔歌》、《阮若打開心內的門窗》最為人所知。呂泉生超過一甲子的音樂活動，成就斐然。

Lu Chuan-Sheng was born in Shenggang, Taichung in 1916. He took a trip to Tokyo in the third grade, and it was during a concert there that he was inspired to become a musician. After that, he studied abroad in Japan. After returning to Taiwan in 1943, he started collecting Minnan (Hoklo) folk songs to arrange and also started composing many of his own compositions, such as Don’t Raise Goldfish in the Bottom of Your Glass - Bottoms Up! and The Cradle Song and If We Open the Doors of Our Hearts. Lu is considered to be the “Taiwanese father of choral music.” He popularized the Rong-Shing Children’s Chorus outside of China. Lu also established the music department and made many contributions at Shih Chien University. He died in the US in 2008 after having a heart attack.
