楊聰賢（1952生），作曲家、音樂教育家。出生於屏東。東海大學音樂學系主修鋼琴（1971-1975），期間曾私下隨史惟亮學習作曲。1977年赴美留學，先後取得加州大學聖巴巴拉分校碩士（1977-1979）與麻州布蘭迪斯大學理論作曲博士（1979-1987）學位；曾任教緬因州貝茲學院（1987-1988）與波頓學院（1988-1989），之後轉任美國聯合世界學院音樂系主任。1991年起返臺任教，歷任東吳大學音樂學系（1991-1995）、國立交通大學應用藝術研究所（1995-2003），2003-2017年專任於國立臺北藝術大學音樂學系後退休。音樂作品類型多元，哲思豐富，作曲家認為作品是反映藝術家生命態度的交感經驗，為對生命的反思方式。代表作包括室內樂《如果在冬夜，一個歌者…》（2002）、《失落之歌：雙簧管協奏曲》（2010）等。曾獲東元科技獎人文類文藝獎（2002）、吳三連音樂類文藝獎（2010）。

YANG Tsung-Hsien, born in 1952 in Pingtung, Taiwan, went to study in the USA in 1977 and got his master’s and doctorate degrees from University of California, Santa Barbara, and Brandeis University respectively. Widely known as a poetic musician in Taiwan, YANG’s music features unique structural aesthetics wrapped in calm rationality. Inspired by the artistic expressions of time and space commonly seen in the classical Chinese poetry, YANG’s music reflects similar techniques like juxtaposition, reference, and virtual existence and his works emanate oriental flavors due to their vague and multifocal aesthetics. YANG received Teco Awards of Teco Technology Foundation (Humanities Category) in 2002 and WU San-Lien Awards (Arts Category) in 2010.
