SHAO Yi-Chiang, born in Tainan in 1934, was a music writer. He took music promotion as his life career and was a leading figure to publicize classical music in early Taiwan. In his life, SHAO had edited more than 100 volumns of publications, published about 150 articles, and wrote a great number of program notes for records. As a teacher, he had taught music at Chia Hwa Senior High School in Chiayi, Yanping Junior High School, Dacheng Junior High School, and Tainan Theological College in Tainan, Shuang-Shih Junior High School in Taichung, and Tatung Junior High School in Changhua. He also served as the lecturer and the head consultant at the Provicial “music staff conference.” During his retirement, he remained lecturing in music appreciation and promoting classical music in many institutions, such as National Cheng Kung University, National University of Tainan, and Leader University. He passed away in Tainan in 2017.
