張炫文，音樂教育家、民族音樂學家、作曲家，畢生致力於音樂教育、歌仔戲研究與臺灣歌謠創作；1942 年 11 月 27 日生於臺中大安，2008 年 2 月 16 日逝世於臺中市。其求學過程中主要接受西方音樂教育，任教數十餘年中，雖以音樂教育工作為主，但在民族音樂研究和歌曲創作等音樂專業領域，亦卓然有成，得到各界的肯定。是臺灣首位以學術方法深入研究歌仔戲音樂，以及臺灣說唱音樂的學者。
CHANG Hsuan-Wen (ZHANG Xuan-Wen) was a music educator, ethnomusicologist and composer who spent his entire life devoted to music education, researching Taiwanese gezaixi opera and Taiwanese folksongs. Chang was born in Taichung County’s Taan Township on Nov. 27, 1942 and died in Taichung on Feb. 16, 2008. Chang was trained mainly in Western classical music, and although he mainly worked as a music educator for several decades, he also contributed a lot to ethnomusicological research and folksong writing in Taiwan. Chang was the first person to conduct scholarly research on gezaixi music and Taiwan’s narrative song tradition.
