江文也,作曲家;1910 年 6 月 11 日出生於臺北淡水,1983 年 10 月 23 日逝世於北京。十二歲到日本學校學習電器工程,因為喜歡音樂,於是晚間就到東京上野音樂學校選修聲樂,1932年工業學校畢業後進入「哥倫比亞唱片公司」工作,1934 年以管絃樂《白鷺的幻想》獲全日本音樂比賽作曲組第二名,1936 年以管絃樂《臺灣舞曲》獲得柏林第 11 屆奧林匹克國際音樂比賽作曲獎,1938年《十六首斷章小品》在威尼斯第四屆國際音樂節中獲獎,江文也因此成為國際性的作曲家。

JIANG Wen-Ye (a. k. a. Bunya Koh) was born in Tamsui, Taipei in 1910. He majored in electrical engineering at the Tokyo Engineering and Commerce Advanced School. Interested in music, he attended singing classes at night at Tokyo University of the Arts. After graduating in 1932, he went to work for Columbia Records. He won second place in the composition division of Japan’s Imperial Music Competition with his orchestral piece “White Egret Fantasy.” Jiang also won a composition medal for his piece “Taiwan Dance Song” at the 1936 Summer Olympics held in Berlin. He won a prize for his “16 Bagatelles” at the 4th Venice International Music Festival, which made him an internationally recognized composer. He died in Beijing in 1983.
