WANG, Cheng-Ping（1948-2013）was a pipa performer, composer and conductor. He was born in Hangzhou, China and later moved to Hong Kong. He was taught by Mr. Pei-Yuan Lu from an early age. In 1968, he came to Taiwan to study at the university. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in foreign languages from National Taiwan University, and a PhD degree awarded by the UK’s Council for National Academic Awards in 1989. Wang established the Taipei City Chinese Orchestra in 1979. At one time he was the conductor of the China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra, as well as the conductor and director of the Taipei City Chinese Orchestra, director of the Chinese Music Association and the music director of Fo Guang Shan Sounds of the Human World Buddhist Chinese Orchestra. Wang is the recipient of the Chinese Writers and Artists Association Award, the National Cultural and Arts Award, the Outstanding Asian Artist Award from the Chinese American Arts Council, and Best Album Producer from the Golden Melody Awards. Main compositions include the solo, Free and Easy Wandering（1973）, Song of Pipa（1984）, Green Feather and Robe（1988）and the pipa concerto, Spring Thunder（1989）.
